SLK Chrome Exhaust Tip Installation

Note: This particular installation was made when the muffler was out of the vehicle and turned upside-down. For most owners, this install will take place underneath the vehicle. The same instructions apply, but remember that the pictures below will be "upside-down" from your installation perspective.

Step 1

Locate the screw under the original exhaust tip and unscrew as shown. It is pretty tight, so if you have a ratchet, it will help a lot. The screw head accepts a torx bit.

Step 2

This is the screw after it is removed.

Step 3

Loosen the tip by pulling side to side until you can pull it completely off. Be careful, it is dirty down there and it is hard to get a good grip. It's on there tighter than you might think. Be sure to do this on a cool muffler!

Step 4

Remove the tip completely after you have loosened it.

Step 5

Place the new tip on the exhaust in the same manner. Since it is new, it will offer a lot of resistance. Make sure you slide it completely in and that the screw holes match up on the bottom.

Step 6

Replace the screw you removed earlier, and tighten completely. If the holes do not match up, remove the screw and adjust as necessary. Wiggling it side to side helped me align the holes easier.
